ABA Format Online Conversion
How batch transactions work
Australian Banks (business accounts) allow for batch transactions to be completed using a Cemtex ABA file format. This special file is uploaded directly to your online bank website.
Where the ABA file come from
Some applications - including those who have integrated Cemtex ABA’s online API - can automatically generate an Cemtex ABA file. Hoever if you use a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to collect your payment data, then you need a way to convert the excel spreadsheet to an ABA file format. Fortunately all spreadhseet apps and most third party accounting platforms allow you to export a Comma Seperated Value (or “CSV”) file. You can then upload this CSV file to our online ABA file generator and we’ll generate the correct ABA file for you.
The CSV format
The CSV file needs to contain the folowing columns (in any order):
- BSB (can be in the format 123-456 or 123456)
- Account Number
- Account Name
- Amount
- Optional comment or reference (e.g invoice number)
Note if you’re using a spreadsheet to generate your CSV, be sure to encode the columns as text so leading zeros are not removed. (guides for Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets)
The order of each column isn’t important as our online converter will detect the correct columns. Our conversion works with and without column headers.

Note negative amounts will be processed as direct debit - the bank will withdraw funds from your customer’s accounts.
Save time with Cemtex ABA
A recent client was manually entering payroll transactions and taking up to an hour a day to do this. After integrating the CemtexABA export function, this was literally reduced to just 30 seconds
Many accounting packages include an ABA file format - but what if you use your own payroll system? Or if you have your own custom e-commerce site? With CemtexABA’s ABA file export function, you can now do these batch transactions autonomously.
